You may have known from my previous post Let’s briefly talk about “Bánh mì”, I mentioned that I was not able to make the regular “bánh mì” due to the lack of the right bread. When I walked in the store, I noticed that they made their own bread, which was a good sign that the bread might be the correct one! Looking at the menu, they had both “bánh mì” versions, the regular and “Bánh mì chảo”, with a wide variety of toppings, from grill pork, grill beef to fried egg or beef stew. They even had vegetarian “bánh mì” as well!
I ordered a “Bánh mì chả lụa”, my dad’s favorite, which a “bánh mì” with Vietnamese pork ham/pork roll, sprinkle with salt and ground black pepper with a lot of cilantro and pickles. The “bánh mì” served to me was wrapped nicely and still warm. The bread was still crispy when I opened the wrap and enjoyed it. The moment I had my first bite, I got so emotional: it was so good, and it was what I had been long for! Finally… I found the place! Thanks for coming to AZ, Mekong Sandwiches.
