Last week, my best friend since middle school was in town to celebrate my graduation ceremony, and I had the chance to cook for her.
I promised her the Vietnamese egg rolls, she requested pecan pie. In the end, we finished around 40 egg rolls, 12 mini pecan pie + egg tarts, 3 slices of key lime pie, 3 small apple pies and Vietnamese Oxtail Spicy Beef Noodle Soup (Bún Bò Huế with Oxtail). I thoroughly enjoyed seeing her and her boyfriend slurping the soup and finishing all the desserts. The food was so tempting that they went for seconds and thirds, especially when apple pies and key lime pie have never been preferred on their lists, but they cleared the plate and pie pans in the blink of eyes. And I think it was one of the highest compliments to me.
I truly wish she could stay longer so we could plan to have more dishes. Maybe next time then!
